Job Description
Summary:
The Host will greet guests entering the restaurant and seat them in a timely manner.
Job Description:
Review reservations on the books and assign tables.
Plan out the seating chart and organize the reservations (planning is everything when running an effective host stand).
Rearrange dining room tables if necessary to accommodate parties.
Make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant and review with MOD.
Meet and greet guest as they arrive.
The host/hostess is the critical first and last impression of the restaurant and there for a big part of creating a memorable guest experience.
Greets guests in a friendly, courteous manner and escorts them to a table.
Continuously studies and monitors work stations of various servers so that he/she will know where the next guest(s) can be seated to get quickest possible service.
Opens menus (and wine lists, if applicable) and hands them to guest.
When necessary, directs servers and server assistants to clean tables and assists to set-up or reset areas.
Takes reservations, over the phone or while at the host stand.
Ensures all reservation details are correct.
Engages with guest and is on the restaurant floor at all times during service.
Assists where needed to ensure guest have an outstanding dining experience.
Maintain cleanliness of host/hostess area including podium, menus, restaurant entranceMaintain guest counts for individual servers so things come out fair at the end of the nightKeep in constant contact with the servers and the kitchen to make sure seating flow is on point and the restaurant does not get overwhelmed by seating to many guest in a short timeframe.
A large part of the nights success is orchestrated from the host stand.
Keep an eye out that the dining room, entryway, bathrooms, and menus are kept clean throughout operations.
Say good-bye to all of the guests.
Check to see that everything was wonderful.
Not only is the host or hostess the first impression the guest gets when they come to an establishment they are also the last.
Familiar with food allergens and handles any guest with food allergies with a high sense of urgency.
Performs opening and closing (side work) duties as assigned by manager and supervises weekly cleaning duties.
Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
Be familiar with job hazards for your area and puts safety first.
Provide other services and duties as requested by your immediate supervisor or your department head.
Qualifications:
Must be passionate about the hospitality business and posses a pleasant personalityMust meet appearance standards as outlined in our Crew GuideMust be able to read, write and clearly communicate in English.
Ability to comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials.
Ability to remember, recite and promote variety of menu items.
Ability to effectively deal with guest complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other crewMust obtain Safe Serve certification within 30 days of hire and go through Alcohol Compliance training quarterly.
Must be willing to work outdoors as needed in and out of the sun and should be prepared to deal with the Florida heat.
Ability to use computer (Open Table).
Able to multi-task, take direction and adapt to changing needs and at times stressful work environment.
